All articles published in Clinics of North America titles are solicited by invitation only. If you have been invited to contribute to a Clinics article, please make use of the author information below.
Welcome to the Clinics publishing program. You have been invited to contribute to a Clinics issue because of the high esteem in which your colleague, the Guest Editor for the issue, holds you and your work. All of the periodicals in the Clinics publishing program offer the medical, dental and veterinary practitioner comprehensive, clinical reviews of timely subjects, including diagnosis and therapy, new materials, and new equipment. Your contribution should be of genuine clinical interest and contain information that is well substantiated by your research, your clinical experience, and by reports in the literature. Your time and contribution are greatly appreciated, and we look forward to working with you. Please read our detailed Manuscript Guidelines for Authors (updated July 2007) which will assist you in your manuscript preparation.
FAQs
What happens to my article once I send it to the Guest Editor?
The Guest Editor reviews your manuscript for scientific content and accuracy, and to make sure that there is no overlap with other articles in the Clinics issue. The Guest Editor may return the manuscript to you for revisions. When the manuscript is considered complete and final by the Guest Editor, it is sent to the Philadelphia office of Elsevier. From there it is reviewed for completeness and adherence to the guidelines, and then sent to production for copy editing and typesetting. Several weeks later, you will receive an email with a web address where you can click to review your PDF proof and answer the author queries. We ask that you answer the author queries and provide any necessary revisions within 48 hours. If no revisions are necessary, simply notify us of your approval.
Should I make my manuscript look just like I want it to appear when it is published? No. Please do not embed figures or tables into the body of your document. Figures should be saved as separate files, and tables should be saved at the end of the manuscript. For a full explanation, consult the
Guidelines for Authors.
Can I get my original figures or slides returned to me?Yes. Please let us know that you need them returned and to what address.
How do I get permission to use a figure that has been published previously?Contact the copyright holder (usually the original publisher) and request the material (figure, table, or text) by providing the full citation of where the material originally appeared and also providing the full citation of your paper in which you will be using the material. Consult pages 4-6 of the
Guidelines for Authors for more information.
